Okay they are perfect in terms of protection but it does feel like I have a bbl. They aren’t bulky tho so I can still get up easily and have tons of motion to get on tubes or do whatever!
Great! Super comfortable, perfect fit, really great protective coverage. Hit 64.1mph on my snowboard and felt safe!
I really liked the look of these, and functionally they work, but there are several things that could be improved. I have an old pair of impact shorts that have a few simple features that I think would work well for these. 1. Lose the elastic waist band and make it drawstring with a plastic QuickDraw to tighten it up. The current elastic isn’t strong enough with all of the bulk from the pads and when crouching the whole thing rides down and you’re constantly fighting to keep them up. The extra (removable) yellow pad make these completely unwearable, so after initially trying them on I immediately removed them. 2. The tailbone protector is plenty of protection but it is not the best ergonomic shape. I think it may just be too thick compared to how narrow it is. Adds to the fit issue when crouching. I get that this offers a range of options for beginners who want the extra protection but it becomes distracting if it doesn’t fit well.
Also less of an issue with these shorts but I ordered this with the demon pro fit top and they are incompatible to wear together the back pad on the top extends way too far down and curls up against the shorts. It pushes the top up and the shorts down and it’s not designed to be used with the Velcro on the shorts to join them. I really liked the top but I’d rather use the shorts if I had to choose between the two for snowboarding.
It's my first season snowboarding and early on in the season I hit a large jump on accident, feet flew out from under my and I landed straight on my tailbone from probably 6' in the air and going at least 20 mph. Completely annihilated my tailbone without breaking it. I bought these that same day and have been wearing them about two months now while I learn freestyle stuff (only jumps and boxes for now). I've taken some pretty hard slams while wearing the shorts, even yesterday I slammed straight to my butt after hitting a rainbow box completely wrong at Bear. The shorts absorb basically all of the impact. You still feel the slam but it's only to the point where you just get back up and ride away. The hardest I've slammed with these was at mammoth on the 8' half pipe straight heel edge catch to my butt on ice and I felt that one a bit but not that crazy tailbone pain you get without padding. Buy these and save your body, they seriously work. My only regret is that I didn't buy the pants initially because they have the knee pads. I might get those next season. Demon really needs to keep up with stock though. Missed out on quite a few purchases from friends and family because size wasn't in stock, not sure of supply chain issues though. Great shorts!
Great product
