Care Instructions
Every Demon padded product is hand wash only.
Check the product-specific instructions and care label to identify which components are removable. Remove only those components. Leave permanently sewn-in protectors and padding in place. A sewn-in protector pocket may contain a removable protector.
A protector that has been taken out must never be washed with detergent or put through a machine. That can damage the material and reduce its protective effect. Wipe it with a damp cloth instead.

Anything not listed above is sewn in and stays in the product when you wash it. Chest padding is the one worth checking: on the X V7 Top the chest protector lifts out, and on the Project X Top the chest pads lift out with the rest of the XRD pads. On every other product the chest, rib, hip and thigh padding is sewn in — including the Zero PLUS and Zero RF tops and vests, where the back, shoulder and elbow protectors lift out but the chest and rib padding stays in. If you are unsure, check the product-specific instructions supplied with the product and the care label inside the garment; remove only the components they identify as removable.
How to wash it
- Remove only the protectors listed for your product. Ease each protector out of its protector pocket through the opening provided; do not pull forcefully, crease sharply, overstretch or twist it. Leave permanently sewn-in protectors and padding in place. If nothing is listed for your product, go straight to step 3.
- Clean those protectors with a damp cloth only. No soap, no detergent, no cleaning products of any kind. Never hand wash, machine wash, soak, spin or tumble dry a protector you have taken out.
- Hand wash the product in cold water with a mild detergent, with the sewn-in padding still in place. No fabric softener. Do not bleach, wring or spin.
- Air dry at room temperature in a ventilated place, out of direct sunlight. Never use a tumble dryer, hair dryer, radiator or any other heat source. Padded products hold water, so allow plenty of drying time and make sure the padded areas are dry all the way through.
- Refit the completely dry protectors before you ride. Insert each protector into its designated protector pocket in the correct orientation. Check that every protector is properly seated and covers the intended area of the body. Use the product only with all its intended protectors fitted.
For light soiling, wiping the padded areas with a damp cloth is enough and is gentler on the product than a full wash. Never unpick seams or cut out sewn-in protectors or padding — they are part of the product.
Never, on any Demon product
- Machine washing
- Fabric softener
- Bleach
- Hot water
- Solvents, glass cleaner, contact cleaner or petrol
- Pressure washers
- Tumble dryers, hair dryers, radiators or other heat sources
- Ironing
- Dry cleaning
- Paint, lacquer or dye on a protector
Storing your gear
- Make sure the product is completely dry before you put it away.
- Store at room temperature in a dry, ventilated place, out of direct sunlight and away from extreme heat or cold.
- Do not store under heavy objects, and never fold a protector. Hanging is best.
Checking your protection
- Look over the protectors before each use for cracks, splits, tears, separation or general wear.
- Replace the product straight away if anything is damaged.
- If a protector has taken a heavy impact, replace it — even if it looks fine.
- Never modify the product in any way. Modifications can damage the material and reduce its protective effect. Removing and refitting removable protectors as described above is permitted.
Looking after your gear properly keeps it working as it was designed to. Nothing in these instructions affects your statutory rights.
